Lower School

My name is Dr. Kristin Halligan, and I am the Lower School Principal. I have had the privilege of being part of the EABH community for the past five years, and I also bring prior international experience in Southeast Asia. With over 24 years in international education, I remain a lifelong learner dedicated to educational leadership.

I am deeply committed to continuously improving systems, instructional practices, and school culture to ensure that all students and the entire community can truly thrive.

We take a holistic approach to education, focusing on academics, the arts, physical education, well-being, and character development. We celebrate each child’s unique talents through a rigorous, child-centered program designed to foster curiosity, creativity, and a love of learning.

EABH is the only school in Belo Horizonte to offer the IB Primary Years Programme (PYP), a world-class inquiry-based framework that encourages students to become active, internationally minded learners. In our Lower School, students learn in a bilingual environment where English and Portuguese are integrated throughout the school experience, while strong academic foundations are supported through programs such as Readers and Writers Workshop, Eureka Math, and inquiry-based learning experiences.

We are also proud to have implemented a strong Student Support Services team that ensures students receive the individualized academic, social-emotional, language, and learning support they need to thrive. Through collaboration among teachers, learning support specialists, counselors, and families, we work to meet the unique needs of every child and help all students reach their full potential.
